They are essential for sustainable building construction aiming for DGNB or LEED certification\u200b\u200b[\/vc_column_text]<\/div><div class=\"eltd-tab-container\" id=\"tab-environmental-impact-279\">\n\t[vc_column_text]Environmental Impact Comparison: The environmental impact of glass fa\u00e7ades is between 60% and 360% higher than that of natural stone fa\u00e7ades across various environmental parameters such as global warming potential, ozone depletion, acidification, eutrophication, and photo-chemical ozone creation\u200b\u200b.[\/vc_column_text]<\/div><div class=\"eltd-tab-container\" id=\"tab-variants-analysis-803\">\n\t[vc_column_text]OpernTurm Fa\u00e7ade Variants Analysis: The study includes a specific analysis of the OpernTurm in Frankfurt, comparing different fa\u00e7ade variants. Both natural stone fa\u00e7ade variants showed marked ecological advantages over glass fa\u00e7ades in all considered environmental parameters. The energy requirements of glass fa\u00e7ades were twice those of natural stone fa\u00e7ades, and natural stone also demonstrated further ecological benefits in terms of greenhouse gas emissions\u200b\u200b.[\/vc_column_text]<\/div><div class=\"eltd-tab-container\" id=\"tab-life-cycle-inventory-analysis-240\">\n\t[vc_column_text]Life Cycle Inventory Analysis: Over their life cycle, natural stone fa\u00e7ades require significantly less primary energy (1743 MJ\/m2) than glass fa\u00e7ades (5854 MJ\/m2). The share of renewable energy is also proportionately higher in natural stone fa\u00e7ades. Notably, during the manufacturing phase, the overall primary energy requirements of natural stone fa\u00e7ades are lower than those of glass fa\u00e7ades.
